Finally got my mortgage offer...what now?

After quite a long ordeal with the valuation and survey I finally got my mortgage offer in the post this morning.
This is the first time we have bought and sold at the same time (FTB's last time) so I am struggling to get my head around what happens with exchange and completion. How long is it likely to take to exchange (our mortgage offer was the last thing we were waiting for and as far as I know our buyer was ready 2 weeks ago)?
The property we are moving to is vacant, then our buyers are moving in to ours and they have a cash buyer moving into theirs.
I assume on the day of completion we will be the first to move as we will have to be out before our buyers can come in - does this mean we are more likely to get the keys earlier in the day to give time for everyone in the chain to move? Are the removals people just put on 'standby' for when we get the go ahead or do we book them for first thing so that they can load up a van full of stuff to go as soon as we get the keys?
Also, any tips for packing/moving would be appreciated as last time we just hired a van for the few belongings we had and did a furniture run to ikea the same day! We now seem to have accumulated lots of stuff and I am struggling to figure out what to do with it all!

If everything's sorted, you should obviously be pretty much there and ready to exchange. In my experience, there'll still be a lot of loose ends to tie up. We had our mortgage offer within a month, but it took another four months to exchange (don't worry, there were unforeseen problems with our purchase!). If you really are 'all done', the solicitors will call you in to sign papers ready for exchange. They won't actually exchange until all parties have agred on a completion date.
Once you exchange, your completion date is set so you can inform services and book removals, etc. That's why it's wise not to exchange and complete on the same day (I've done it, it was a nightmare). Generally, it's a week or two inbetween, but some still want a month.
My removal men were there around 8am. Depends on the size of what you're packing up, I suppose.
On average, it's around 12 weeks from offer to completion. Obviously an average is made up of some taking far less, others far longer, so take that with a pinch of salt. As said, our last one took five months start to finish, but I have done it all in four weeks before.
Are all the searches back? Are all properties in the chain freehold? Leasehold can slow things down a bit.
Generally, people start clearing out their properties the morning of completion (obviously packing will be done before that). You'll all in theory be in around midday, or at least officially own the property then. Never been in at midday in my life though, and my last one was more like 3-4pm by the time we got the call saying it had completed.
Good luck.

Thanks!
All the searches etc have been done whilst waiting for this mortgage offer. As far as I know all the properties are freehold (ours and the one we are buying definitely are so only one that may not be is our buyers). Offers were accepted 6 weeks ago so hoping that we are nearly there and can be looking to complete by start of June. Only possible hiccup is that apparently our buyer's solicitor is on jury service - typical!
I'm hoping that we can complete quite soon after exchange but I definitely don't want to do it on the same day. We did that last time and it was a nightmare.0
