Hi
I've just discovered this forum and was wondering if any of you think I would have a valid claim on some PPI. Let me know if you need more info to comment - I'll see what I can dig up.
Anyway, we bought a kitchen from a company called Space Kitchens (now taken over by Weatherseal I believe) in 2007. It seems they added some PPI (front loaded is the term that seems to be used on here) which came to an additional £2000 on the total loan. The loan itself was provided by GE Money.
To be honest the whole Space Kitchen's pushy salesman act never sat right with me from the beginning (although I went with it to keep the wife happy) and having read a few posts on this forum I'm wondering if I might just have a case to claim back on the PPI.
Not sure of the relevance but here's my main concerns:
Neither of us recall PPI being mentioned (although we did sign for it)
My wife hasn't worked since 2001 but the loan (including the PPI element) is in both our names (the salesman was made aware that my wife didn't work but didn't comment)
The PPI lasts for 5 years, the loan for 10years.
Don't worry about upsetting me if I'm on the wrong track with this. If I'm getting my hopes up for no good reason - let me know as I'd rather put it down to experience and move on. I just thought there would be no harm in asking.
All comments and pointers welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Was it 'Space Kitchens and Bedrooms' or 'Space Kitchens and Bathrooms'?
If it was the former, you will need to put a claim in to the FSCS. This is because Space Kitchens & Bedrooms Ltd entered into administration before a sale of part of the business was
completed to Weatherseal Holdings Ltd. As a result the sale was an asset purchase sale and therefore Weatherseal Holdings Ltd has not assumed and liabilities of Space Kitchens & Bedrooms Ltd.
I'm not sure if the same applies to the latter, but if you write to them they'll tell you what's what.
Good luck my friend!I drum and knit to help Independent Drummers and Knitters to comply with their rhythms and knitting patterns. Although I am qualified to, I don't advise drummers or knitters for reward.0 -
Thanks for the reply's
I'll double check the actual paperwork this evening and make sure I direct letters to the correct company.
Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say!

Hi there
I would make a reclaim and pursue the ones who set up and sold you the account, so in other-words the dealer of where you purchased your kitchen.
As they have been taken over then maybe its Weatherseal you would write to.
They may try it on by saying that you were aware that you signed up for the PPI, but keep at them with your reasons of being pressurised. Do not back down.
As long as you have the account number you can continue to make a reclaim.

Good luck and ask for further help if required. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Just checked - it was Space Kitchens and Bedrooms so looks like it'll be the FSCS that I contact first.Stranded in the wild west.0 -
