Hi, I'm 17, in college claiming ema and I'm now 32 weeks pregnant. I know that since I don't live with the babys dad I have to claim on my own so as of now I can claim income support, but I just wondering if I can claim this together with ema? My course is 2 and a half days a week and i am thinking about quitting it anyway. Any help would be great. Thanks a lot.

Yes, you can claim EMA as well as IS, although you obviously won't get it when you're away having the baby. The maintenance you receive from the baby's father will also not affect the amount you get in IS.0

Thankyou, I read on the direct gov website that if you are in full time education u only get it in certain circumstances, then it contradict itself and says ema doesn't affect your claim for IS so I was really confused.0

You can check this information and the way it should be administered on here.

You'll also be able to claim help with childcare costs under a programme called Care to Learn.
