Cheapest way to Brittany - advice please.

We need to get to Paimpol in Brittany in September and are trying to work out the cheapest way – the ferry is over £400 and is more than the rental price of the house!
Brittany ferries dont seem to do discount codes either!
What are the most sensible ways to do this? – we have the house from Saturday 18th for 1 week.
We are 2 adults & a 2yr old and don’t mind how we travel – drive & ferry or fly & hire car. We would prefer not to have a very long drive so are not considering a Calais crossing or tunnel but a few/couple of hours is fine.
St Malo, Roscoff, Cherbourg or Caen are all suitable ports, not sure on airports but we can easily fly from Manchester as we live near there.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

Not sure on the ferry, unless you or a friend are a member of the caravan club. We are off that same week, to a camp site, it might be worth paying for the week, but only using the ferry. Hi, if you PM me I will give you details of my Brittany Ferries owners club and as my guest you can get 10% off. not a lot but may help. The other crossing to look at is Newhaven-Dieppe, cheaper but a longer drive.0

Ryanair fly to Dinard from East Midlands. Have just looked and they don't fly Saturdays, but if you can be slightly flexible with dates (by 24 hours) you can get all three of you there and back for under £120 if you use the right payment method and can manage on 30Kg of luggage for the 3 of you.
(We are going to Brittany in a couple of weeks and had the same dilemma.)0
