hi was wondering if anyone can give me an opinion ... we were burgled on friday and need to replace a few doors etc ...

we had c.r.smith out and even though i told the guy look i dont want no sales pitch etc i have far too much to b e doing with right now he was determined to give me his sales pitch ( have to admit i became kinda unpleasant at this point) so he gave us his price then his discount then his bosses discount etc etc etc you know how that all goes ... anyway his price eventaully landed up at just shy of £9k

next was a guy from network veka ... came in measured up straight away asked us what we wanted gave a wee tiny bit of advice (i.e you can have the doors that way but if you want it a bit more secure this way would be safer etc etc ... which the c.r.smith guy didnt do might i add) told us he couldnt give us a price as he would need to go back price it up etc but would give us it on monday ... no sales no pressure no sign on the dotted line didnt even wear a suit ( i liked that bit) so i am more inclined to go with him ...

has anyone had any dealings with this company? they are nationwide from what i hear ... but a network or individual companies ...

is their product good ? can anyone give me their opinion about this company? any advice gratefully recieved...

Veka make a good system that stands with the best.
The network is the installers who are local franchisees. Ask locally about yours

Yeah that was the impression i got ... The guy was very happy for me to talk to customers etc .... It was a totally different experience to the c r smith one I was very impressed .. Thanks for letting me know there product is good ... I think the service with this guy will be good also ... Just waiting on a price now and to see if the insurance will pay something towards it

Its for two doors and three windows ... One set of doors ( where they eventually got in) is French doors with side panels

I had some Veka profile double glazing fitted last year by a local firm,

1 Front door
1 Patio door.
5 Windows,

£2,995.

Thanks .... Can I ask are you happy with them? I should get my quote from them tomorrow and the insurance are due to phone then so I should be a bit more forward with the whole thing

The windows are fine,they were fitted well with no complaints.

I had quotes from several firms and more or less played off one against the other, however the guys that did eventually get the job did not give a sales pitch about phoning the boss for the cheapest price they could do and giving discounts etc., he came and measured up and just gave us a quote with no haggling, he was not just a salesman he and his partner fitted the units.

That's the same as what we experianced no sales rubbish no need to phone the boss no if u buy today u get an extra 5% etc etc ... The guy said it would probably be him that will fit it ... I do like the idea of a local business getting my custom and he seemed a much more pleasant person .... I think I will try and push for them to get the work ( not sure how much say I will have if the insurance are involved though ) .... Thanks for all your help
