Hi guys
Has anyone had any experience with Raphaels Bank? They're offering a pretty decent 12 month fixed rate bond and I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet in this forum.
Thanks!

Used them a couple of times for fixed rate bonds - absolutely no problems whatsoever. Money back in my account 1 day after maturity. Would have reinvested but renewal rates were low at the time.0

Thanks.
Spoke to FSA and they've confirmed the Bank is covered.
Their One Year Fixed Rate Bond at 3.75% seems to be the market leading rate so I'm unsure as to why they're below the radar. Perhaps the bank is too small and therefore considered a risk?0 -

The Newcastle BS Bond is better than this .0 -
I think he means you can take out their 3 year 4% fixed rate and give 90 days notice to exit when the year is up (or whenever you want)0

Not really an option for me since I've already reached the maximum limit for Newcastle BS with their previous 5 year fixed rate bond.
Also ... Alliance and Leicester's 2 year fixed rate bond has dropped from 4.10 to 3.90 today so suddenly this one year deal from Raphaels Bank is becoming increasingly more attractive.0 -
Looking at the application form you must make a cheque out to Raphaels all banks I have dealt with recently request all checks submitted to be in the name of the proposed account holder.Anybody aware of any potential security issues.0

None. Just make the cheque out to "Raphaels (Your name)".
As per advice from APACS / Cheque and Credit Clearing :-If you are making a cheque payable to a bank, or to a credit card company to pay off your credit card bill, you must ensure that you provide sufficient details about the payee. Enter the full details for the account holder in the payee line, for example XYZ bank, re J JonesIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
