hired a whacker plate and it runs on unleaded
it will only go phutt phutt phutt
whats wrong??? CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP??
if it does go properly its only for a few seconds and then cuts out
weve let it stand encase it was flooded but its not helping
got to take it back tomorrow and the jobs not done

Mr Libra says he thinks that the main jet in the carburettor may be blocked. Take carb. off, remove bowl from bottom of the carb(where the float is). There is a jet in the bottom of the carb, unscrew with screwdriver. When out, check that you can see through the jet. May be blocked, blow it out.
Or try the sparking plug, is there a spark from HT lead?
He is certain that the jet may be blocked though.
Failing that, check machine is actually filled with unleaded petrol and not leaded.

thanks for that he cleaned the spark plug and at one stage sparks were flying out the back so we thought wed better switch it off
theyll just have to do a refund and give us it back when its fixed

just out of curiosity Cathy what is a whacker plate ?? :-/
It's a small plant tool used for compacting materials like crushed stone. Essentially it's a steel plate with an engine mounted on top which provides a vibrating movement that shakes and flattens whatever is under it.
Used for small jobs like laying paths and patios in your garden up to bigger groundwork construction jobs.0 -
