I wondered if anyone knew the actual amount of money a person can earn before it interfere's with Income support?

IIRC It varies with regards to the income disregard, between £5 and £20 p/w, but once your over the disregarded income, the IS will reduce on a £ by £ basis.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

I went to an interview last week at jobcentre plus and I was told the amount you can earn before it affects your income support is £20 per week but you do have to tell them about it and details of where you're working.0 -
This is only true for certain groups of people eg. if you are a single parent. The normal disregard is £5 for a single person and £10 for a couple. Any more than that is taken £ for £ off your benefit.bedshaped wrote:Hi

I don't get it, if you're able to work and you can get a job, why do you need to be on Income Support??? (I'm not criticising, just don't understand).0
