Income Support and Disregarded Income

Does anyone know, perhaps someone who works for the Benefits Agency (if it is still called that) whether Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit are taken into account when assessing a claim for Income Support?
I have studied the JobCentre website and it seems to say that they are both disregarded but I dont entirely trust my understanding of it since it isnt that easy to digest all their information.
This is the first time I have ever claimed Income Support and although I know I will be entitled to something I dont know whether the weekly amount I am awarded will be reduced by the value of my Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit.
Thanks to anyone who may have the time and knowledge to help me with this.

Child benefit is counted as income but you then get a child premium on the Income Support.
Sorry I do not know about CTC

CTC is paid as part of IS, its paid instead of the child/family premiums that IS used to include.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

For new claims?
Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit are ignored by Income Support (IS) as IS only pays for adults in new claims.0 -
Thanks for all you help.
So, just to be clear I am understanding this correctly. Does this mean that I would just get
Personal Allowance for Lone Parent of £57.45
and
Family Premium of £16.26.
and would NOT get the Personal Allowance for Dependant Children since I already get Child Tax Credit and Child Benefit?
Thanks again in anticipation0 -
The family premium is no longer included, that is part of CTC.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. i work for income support. if this is a brand new claim then child tax credits and child benefit are completely disregarded. we would only pay Income support for you as your children are being paid for by ctc and cb. the current rate for an adult is £57.450

Child benefit was deducted from income support when an award included a payment for children. Now income support is paid for adults only, there is no deduction of child benefit.0

if its a new claim to benefit then yes child benefit is disregarded as we don't pay for children.
if the claim is existing then child benefit is still taken into account as we would be paying for the children.0
