Abbey to Abbey transfers

More incompetence from Abbey:

At the end of July, I phoned Abbey to set up regular payments to feed my four Abbey Monthly Savings accounts from my new bank account.

Abbey distinguishes between Standing Orders (external payments) and Regular Transfers (internal payments).

I just noticed that the operator had set up 1 Standing Order and 3 Regular Transfers. The Standing Order takes a day to arrive, the Regular Transfer is immediate.

Can't they get anything right?

  • Hi All,

Something on a similar note I found a few weeks back, is that Cahoot to Abbey transfers take the same time as any normal BACS transfer.

Why on earth is this the case when Cahoot really is part of Abbey and always was?
completed Uni in 2004 without any student debt - woohoo!
  • This was probably just an error by an individual staff member. Sometimes people make errors.

    Sometimes people make errors.

Once people get involved it's inevitable that errors will be made.

Once ShAbbey people get involved it's inevitable that numerous C O C K UPS will be made :D

One would have thought that the IT systems could easily distinguish between a 'partner bank' and a real external one... the sort code tells all.

I had explicitly pointed out that this was an Abbey to Abbey transfer knowing that these were immediate.
Strange, that three were set up correctly and the fourth one wasn't. She must have noticed that she was using a different procedure.

We all do. Unfortunately, in my experience interactions with Abbey are hardly ever free of errors.

It is not a partner bank in this case but Abbey to Abbey.
It is noticed indeed. Payment does not go by BACS (or it would take 3 days). But it takes the system a day to notice.
