Insurance repairs have invalidated my warranty! Help!
I am insured with Morethan fully comp on my MK3 Ford Mondeo Ghia X 2.5v6.
My car was recently involved in a crime, my stereo was stolen (cost £1000 which I FINALLY got a payout for) and the paintwork quite badly damaged (OSF Door, OSR Door, OSR 1/4 Panel, Bootlid, NSR 1/4 Panel, NSR Door and weatherstrip).
After weeks or calls and chasing I finally got Morethan to accept my claim and approve repairs/payment.
When getting the car repaired, I made it VERY clear I had a bodywork warranty until 2013 and I was assured that this would not be affected if repaired by one of their approved garages who apparently specialise in Ford repairs.
The car was collected nearly a week after everything was approved and works began on the car. Throughout the claim, and to date I was not provided with a replacement car, my policy clearly states I should have one but Morethan haven't arranged for one despite hours of phone calls requesting one! I have now told them that I will just use Taxi's and they will be paying for them!
Over a week after the garage had began work on the car I was told it was ready for collection after passing quality control.
I took the day off of work to collect the car... Well, there was more orange peel on my car than you would find on a orange farm. From over 20ft away I could clearly see where the repair had taken place, not only was it a bad finish but the paint was a different colour and when you opened the doors you could see a clear line dividing the new and old paint where they had used masking tape! The paint was also patchy as if they hadn't bothered mixing it correctly before spraying! Also I had two new dents on the freshly repaired panels, wonderful.
I told them to fix it all and quickly as I was going to Poland (as I had stated 3 weeks ago now) to get an LPG kit fitted to the car which I had already paid a deposit for!
They assured me that the car would be ready for collection in two days time... This past, as did another two days... After missing my crossing time for my trip to Poland and having to book flights for the weekend I was told the car would be ready for collection on Saturday (the day I leave for Poland!). However on Friday evening, approximately 8PM I was called by the bodyshop manager who informed me that they had managed to park the car in some secure car park off site and that it doesn't open again until Monday! When I'm meant to be in Poland!
They delivered the car to my Parents house while I was away, it stayed there for 3 weeks while I was in Poland.
On my return I came to find that all they had done was remove two dents and polish the car with about 30L of wax! But it was still very obvious it had been repaired and looked like I'd done it with rattle cans in gale force winds.
I phoned Morethan instantly who told me to take it to my local Ford garage which I did. Ford saw the car and basically came to the conclusion that to 'fix' the work that had been carried out the car would need a complete respray from front to back. They also told me that my paint warranty is gone 4 years short of it's time and there was nothing that could be done to reinstate it.
Morethan insisted on an inspector coming to see the car at the Ford garage before anything further was agreed... I am still waiting for a call to confirm a date when this will happen and Morethan haven't called me back once, it's always been me chasing them!
What can I do about my loss of warranty? Can I take them to court over it?
What about the repairs at Ford, they're stating that it is unlikely they will do a full respray despite Ford saying that's what it needs to correct the work!
I lost a deposit for the LPG conversion as I didn't have my car to drive to Poland, I lost the crossing which cost me money and I had to book flights which cost me even more money! Can I claim for all of this? Morethan are saying no!
Also when the car was booked for repair there was a small scratch & dent on the rear quarter which I had to pay for the repair of outside of the claim as they said they could not repair the car fully before that had been done and paid for to enable them to 'blend' the insurance repairs, despite that panel being subject to the key/scratch marks that were within the claim!
Where is my legal standing here? I've never had so many problems with any insurance company in my life or ever heard of something like this! I went with morethan because they said they 'Go the extra mile'!
Please help!
Thanks, James.
Bodyshop was DWS Bodywork if anyone is wondering who to avoid!

Actually Polish conversions are better than British. They have FAR more experience as they've been doing it for donkeys and they have the same equipment (usually better) as we do here but at half the price!
They have a lot of German cars done in Poland too as it's much cheaper for the same job.
My other half is Polish and they've got cars that run on LPG and still going strong after over 400km! And they were done on the cheap! (They're OLD cars and EVERYTHING has gone wrong with them apart from the engine and LPG conversion lol) I also have a friend who's got a BMW 540i (E39 shape) who had it done in Poland and he's had that car for about 4-5 years without any problems, does pretty high miles too.
They fly through cert in the UK without any problems and I know a lot of Polish people here in London that buy cars here, convert them there and then sell on back over here for a nice profit. They've never said they've had a problem either.
I'm sure it'd be less hassle to get done in the UK as the trip to the garage is a lot shorter! But it's rip-off britain and I'm not going to get ripped off on technology that's been around for donkeys just because it's got the hipe in the UK.
What it means to me is I won't be paying for any more of these CC charges which is the main reason I'm getting it done!
I guess the ones you've seen are the diy jobs from Polish barn garages... They are ok welding exhaust pipes etc but you wouldnt use them for anything else unless you didn't know any better!0
