Income Support "top-up" eligibility

Hi

Does anyone know in what kind of circumstances someone on Incapacity Benefit can have their IB topped up with Income Support?

Also, are the personal allowances the same whether your are on IB or IS?

If you are on IB for over a year a disability premium becomes payable on IS. Disability premiums also applies if entitled to any rate of any component of DLA.

How much IB are you getting and how long have you been on it?

If you are awarded DLA you can claim IS+IB and the disabled, serverly disabled and enhanced disability premiums dependidng on the level of DLA care awarded and living circumstances.

Thanks for responses. I'm making enquiries on behalf of a client whom I support as part of my job. He's on Incapacity Benefit but not DLA (going to help him apply).

I am thinking it would be advantageous for him to be on Income Support or to receive an Income Support top-up (if eligible). I've seen another thread on this actually on this forum, people on Incapacity Benefit seem to be disadvantaged compared to people on Income Support (i.e. accessing the Social Fund and other fringe benefits of being on Income Support)
