Iqor man at the door!!

Hello, in March last year I applied for a credit card via Amazon/Halifax, reason being was for convienience in making purchases from Amazon UK there was also a £15 Amazon voucher, all was well until my 3rd bill came and there was a £12 charge for no payment received, I knew nothing of this until my bill arrived, then next day a letter advising me and another charge, forget what it was,i dont have paperwork in front of me,, the 1st 2 payments were with personal cheque, I rang Halifax and explained a payment of £156.96 was made via bank transfer and to my astonishment they said this didnt count, girl I was talking to said charge stands as per the terms of my agreement, No matter how much I asked her to explain it I made no headway with her. I wrote a letter to Halifax explaining I had made a payment 10 time my minimum payment but no joy, a reply came within 48 hours requesting balance in full and that was that, I wrote another letter to Halifax asking them to look at my account again and complaining about the way I had been treated and I have had no reply to that as yet 15 months later..............I started receiving phone calls at all hours, sometimes people wee on the other end sometimes just a dead line, these calls were at a rate of 30 a day sometimes and at all hours, from 3am in the morning to 6am on Sundays in the end I changed my number and went ex directory. I still tried ringing the Halifax and I got through to a "Gordon" I went through the facts and he seen exactly what I had been telling them along, he said payment I transferred via bank transfer was viable and charges were wrong to have been charged, he immediatly refunded the charges that had built up and I thanked him for spotting the obvious and I asked him if he could sort this and let things get back to normal, he stated that was a matter for customer services department but I asked him to record details of my call and what actions he had taken and why he refunded the charges. In the meantime I applied for my yearly credit report, Halifax had listed me, this before they had replied to my letter(still awaiting reply) so I rang them explained this to them and they said it was no longer being dealt with by them. Letters started coming from Iqor, and each time one arrived I rang them and explained the circumstances of this debt and the fact it was in my opinion still an open case with Halifax, they didnt seem to care and by this stage neither did I, they were not interested in my open complaint they just persued me for the outstanding balance, I by this time had proof of illicit charges sent in a bill by Halifax clearly showing refunded charges I explained this to Iqor but nothing changed, I even offered to fax them a copy of the bill, they said they already had it but it made no difference, I just asked that they take me to court for Id rather let a judge see the way I have been dealt with and how this mess arose, more letters came and I rang them everytime but same old spiel, I got a letter offering a discount on the outstanding balance and I rang them, theyd knocked £60 quid of and I enquired about the open complaint, nothing to do with them, I then said I am talking to the wrong people then. Overtime more letters and I rang everytime, then last Saturday a Man from Iqor appeared at my door....1st time in 15 months........I answered, kept him outside while I went and got my "letter pack" I told him all about this and he seemed a little surprised when he seen this matter related to May 07, I showed him copies of my complaints and proof of postage, told him id contacted Iqor everytime a letter had came ,, Im wondering what happens now, I told him of my desire for it to be taken to court for I am not paying anything until the matter has been dealt with, my credit rating is in tatters, I was hounded on the phone and all because the Halifax made an error, he took details and away he went, so what happens now? court? generous reduction in debt? browsing around the web I see Iqor can be tough but it doesnt wash with me. Point of principle in my book and im sitting tight, anyone any advice. thank you Stephen

Rewritten for clarity as the lack of paragraphs (and full stops!) makes it impossible to read!!

I don't have any particularly helpful advice I'm afraid (beyond suggesting you post on the "Debt-Free Wannabe" forums as they deal with these problems a lot over there), but more people may reply if they can actually read your original post. Hope that helps.
That's a bit presumptious isn't it? Yes, you've made it easier to read but I'm not sure you have the right to rewrite someone else's post. What about if I were to find something you're not so good at and make an issue of that?

By the time anyone reaches your post they will already have read the first one.

Sorry OP, I can't offer any help either, other than complain to the FSA maybe?

  • Allow me to say sorry for my lack of grammar and punctuation, personally I blame the teachers but hey, you guys fair rip through a fellow and skip the main reason for my post. I didnt realise there was such snobbery in seeking help and advice to help me through my problem. Smuggness and ignorance shown in some of the replies above are uncalled for, all I ask for is advice not some satarical witt or to become some sort of numbnut for my typing, its the best I can do, see past smoke and look at the fire!!!! These so called debt collectors have no legal rights what so ever, and not even as much right as the postie to call at your door without your permission. You can tell em to get on their bike. These aren't baliffs which is a different kettle of fish altogether. The DCA don't want to take you to court because they know they haven't a leg to stand on, they resort to threats and harrasment to wear you down-typical dca operations.

I would write again by recorded delivery instructing them that you withdraw any permission for them to call on you in person or via phone and that all future contact should be in writing. I would restate your complaints and ask for a final response within 14 days or you will refer the complaint to the FOS. Then when they either respond or more likely ignore your letter refer the whole matter to the FOS (easily done by downloading the online form and posting it off).

or just sit tight and wait them out, they will either send it to court which you wanted anyway or refer it back to the original bank. The only problem may be if they refer it to another dca and you will get the same old round of threats and harrassment.

    Good luck

Well, I can only apologise for causing offence to you and the OP. Despite your presumption that I meant to offend or 'make an issue' of something, my post was only intended in kindness, and I certainly hope that were I struggling with something, someone would offer help to me.

I wanted to try and help the OP get a better response. I would never spend such an amount of time attempting to denigrate someone for anything. I gave my time (quite a significant amount of time, at that) to try and help the OP. Clearly it was unwanted, so I have removed the post. OP, I wish you the best of luck sorting your problem.
