Iqor man at the door!!

I received a letter this week threatening court action from Iqor Debt Recovery on a Sainsbury Visa card debt of £200 I had over 8 years ago. Since I did not receive any statements/letters requesting monies owed from Sainsburys Visa in all this time, I was surprised to receive this letter from Iqor. What are my legal rights and should I just pay up? I am unemployed with no benefits as my husband earns good money and helps to support me.
In 8 years you would think Sainsburys would have chased me for some money before now. Iqor seem to be the Arthur Daley type of years ago, when they sent "Terry" round to demand money owed to them.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
If your debt is 8 years old and you haven't heard anything in all that time (not recieved or acknowledged any communications or made any payments) then this £200 debt is now statute barred. After 6 years a debt is statute barred if you haven't acknowledged or made payments in respect of an alleged debt.
Write to IQOR and advise that this debt is statute barred under the Limitations Act 1980. As a result you will not be paying.
The office of fair trading states that any attempts to collect a debt after a debter has said they will not pay because it is statute barred can be treated as harrasment.
Look around on this forum, there are some letter templates for statute barred debts that you can use to send IQOR packing.0 -

I have come accross Iqor with regards to client.
A letter was sent from HMRC to inform the client that the debt had been passed over to Iqor Debt Collection. I contacted the HMRC office to confirm.

If the debt is due then HMRC are entitled to pas it on for collection.
However, these agencies have no rights despite the lies they will often tell. They cannot enter premises if uninvited, they have no powers to seize goods, and indeed without a court order have no more rights than any member of the public.
There are laws governing debt collection and many companies resort to tactics which constitute harassment so youir client should keep a log of all calls, etc from them.
If, as you indicate, these monies are not owed, then I suggest you file an immediate formal complaint with HMRC warning them that demanding monies which are not owed is a criminal offence, and, that by passing your clients details to a 3rd party whem there is no liability they have committed an offence under the Data Protection Act also.
