DSS/housing benefit.

Options
Hi all,

Next year I"m hoping to go back to studying and will pretty much be living off nothing. If I do so, I'd probably look at moving in with my partner. My partner is most likely eligible for housing benefit. I see a lot of housing adverts saying "No DSS" so is it just the case that I'm going to have to pay the full amount of rent under my name and him trying to help here and now with the little ESA he gets now, or for him to try and get a council house and me live with him?

I really don't know what the best/allowed option is!
(P.s I've exhausted my student loans)

Thank you

It's very unlikely that you will get a council house.

There are landlords out there that are housing benefit friendly, you just have to look a bit harder.

Local Council Housing department are likely to keep such a list.

If you have exhausted your student loans then that means that you have studied for as long as you can get a loan for.

What most people would do is to get a job and save up to have something to live on while studying or study part time and work part time.
