Private medical consultation

My husband needs to see a neurosurgeon for treatment. He will require to have an initial consultation with the consultants then the treatment will follow at a later date. We don't have medical insurance but would paying for the initial consultation then go back onto his list on NHS speed up the process . We are not aware of the protocols but just looking at ways to speed things along.

There is a section on the nhs website about this and it states you can't mix private and nhs treatment for the same condition.
I've had both private and nhs treatment in the past and found both medical aspects to be equal. Privately the room and food was nicer but these days I'd happily forgo that to save money.
Yes privately it's usually quicker but the nhs isn't always slow. I had surgery a few years back and from initial consultation to diagnosis to surgery was 6 months. I believe there are timescales for certain conditions.0
