Small student loan, plan 2.. should I just Repay it?

Options
I have read through multiple forum pages and pages after pages of Martin Lewis recommendations I honestly just can’t get my head around it!🤯🥵

My student loan is £5000 approximately. I’m on plan 2. I qualified ed almost four years ago and I started my nursing degree in September 2012

I was incorrectly placed on plan 1 when I first qualified and paid back a percentage for the first year and a half. Then I received a phone call saying I was changing over to plan 2 as they were wrong.

My yearly wages is £26220 but with weekend shifts and night shifts sometimes this can increase.

What I’m struggling with is every time I work overtime, I’m loosing take home money. For example I worked 6 hours Christmas Eve on an acute medical ward . My take home was £30!! (£100 before tax, the student loan took £40).

All of the examples of repaying a student loan is based on big amounts borrowed 🥺.

I just need some simple and easy advice as it all seems VERY complicated!

I’m thinking about paying it off completely if I save up enough or getting a loan with a smaller interest just so I can bring home more money home when I work extra hours 🤯
