Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. I think you should go for it. You clearly have all the qualities of a successful landlord. You will undoubtedly be quids in within 5 to 10 years. Good luck.

look love, i don't want sticky fingered kids dropping sweets on the carpets and writing on my walls. that will cost me. i'm sure most single mums are salt of the earth types, but i'd prefer a disabled person who'd only use the ground floor, keeping the upstairs nice and tidy - less hassle and worry for me.

Sweets can get dropped even if your parents are married/still together. Disabled people can drop things too.

Just to point out that you will need to declare your profits on your rental as part of your self assessment. Thought this was necessary to make clear as your thread from a couple of months ago shows that you have little understanding of your obligations as a self employed person.

This thread (from 2 months ago) demonstrates that the OP hasn't got the first clue about property ownership, let alone the complexities of becoming a landlord.
