New driver and no claims query

Hi my neice had a provisional licence up until Aug 17 when she passed her test her insurance was with same company on provisional licence, she is now up for renewal so does she say she has 1 years no claims or it is 0 years no claims.

Any one advice please

    If she held the insurance as the policyholder for a full year then she has one year's NCD. It doesn't matter that for part of that time she only had a provisional licence. Her renewal notice from the insurer should show that she has one year NCD.

    oh thanks for that we were thinking you had to have passed your test and have a full year.

    the renewal notice has not yet arrived and we want to do comparison as she is currently paying £1500

    When is her renewal date? I wouldn't advise switching until she is due to renew as if she does then she won't earn any NCD. She should receive her renewal notice a few weeks before the renewal date, and then would be a good time to do comparisons. Of course, if you just want to get a sense of possible costs, then you could always run a comparison now with one year NCD (not using exactly the correct details, e.g. use a made up name and a different house number, but same post code, and don't give the car registration, but rather identify the model). This would give you a sense of what she might have to pay, but it won't be completely accurate as prices change all the time.
