It's common in long, hot summers like this one. You can fight it, or just live with it.

Mine is really choked with blanket weed, but its a new pond so I'm still trying to get the right balance. You need enough plants otherwise the algae takes over. I've heard water cress is really good for taking the excess nutrients out of the water and stopping algae so have put some of that in recently.0
