Hello all,
The site I'm currently working at is closing 2nd quarter in 2020, so they are slowing making everyone redundant, the question I have, as they are asking for Volunteers at each quarter would this be deemed as Compulsory as the site is closing?

NO,
they could structure it so all the paperwork says redundant with no mention of the voluntary bit.
Why would you need it to be?0 -
Typically VR is better than compulsory.0

It depends on the company rules.
When Mr S (happily) took redundancy from HP, he went under CR as the terms were better than VR - although the betterment could have just been in relation to his immediate pension.0 -
Bear in mind that "voluntary redundancy" (which is actually a misnomer) is only governed by whatever scheme the employer has in place. Unless you have a job lined up, do check the terms of both "voluntary and compulsory redundancy". Do not forget to include the money you would be earning if still working up until the site actually closing.
One downside of waiting until the site closes may be that any suitable jobs arising could have been taken by your former colleagues on VR.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
