Not the same thing. Restaurants usually use a credit card machine where an individual credit card receipt is printed for each transaction.
You need to think in terms of a supermarket or McDonalds/KFC receipt where all the purchases are listed and the credit card receipt forms an integral part of it.

Could well be the same thing, no way of knowing.

One invoice with three individual card receipts isn't impossible.

I suspect most shops don't allow it because of additional fees using multiple cards, but a friend went into a clothes shop and bought one item and split it across two cards.
