£200 is a bit pants... if they don't increase it, request one after 6 months. If they still say no, try to consolidate them so you move the £200 onto the big limit card. Pointless having one that small long term, unless there is cash back/insurance etc, but I think they've axed everything now??
If both cards are just bog standard cards, transfer to whichever one has the lowest APR once your new one has been open 6m - just in case you ever incur interest0 -
I have been able to consolidate the High APR card into the lower APR card, all done via secure message. The consolidation will take place within 2 working days. So I've had 3 cards in total consolidated into one over the last year to give a total limit of £5750 @ 19.9%. This limit is more than enough for my needs, won't be applying for any more Capital One cards.0

Very interesting thread thank you. I have a cap1 card at high 30s% & just been accepted for the platinum at 29.something %.
I was wondering if I could merge the two to the lower interest card. The lower interest one (new) only has a credit limit of £250. The other card is better at £750
Do they add both credit limits together too?SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80
SPC 11 (2018) #4850 -
Yes just call them or send a secure message. Tell them you wish to keep the card with the lower APR and consolidate the credit limits.:):)0

So how long has the newest card been open? I thought you only took it out last month! I'm sure when I called they said the card moving to had to be 6 months old. Mine still haven't consolidated, happens next weekend apparently.
Can you paste the text you put into the secure message by any chance?0 -
Oh and did you find out if you have to wait 4 months before you can apply again?0
-
The newest card has been open a month and the old card has been open for a year. If I wanted to open another card I'd have to wait till the 4 month mark. if I wanted to keep the older card I'd be able to apply for another card a few days after the account closed.
I just asked if I could keep the new card and the said no problem and let them know if I wanted to go ahead.0 -
Great thanks for the updates. I'll have a go at opening a new account next week, see if they let me!0

Consolidation went ahead, the high APR card is now closed. The lower APR card now has the £5750 limit. They did say it would take 2 working days to complete but It took 3 days.0

I sent a secure message but couldn't make head nor tail of the reply so I'm going to phone tomorrow. The only thing I did understand was that it said both accounts have a balance. The new one certainly doesn't (or shouldn't have) as I've only just got the card.
I'll phone tomorrow, it will be easier!!SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
