Boiler Repairs Leasehold Flat

Options
Hi All,

Quick question - I am thinking of buying a leasehold flat and have been reading about what leaseholds / leases typically involve but I cant seem to find the answer to one question - If the boiler breaks or needs servicing at the flat I am interested in buying who would be responsible for paying for the work that needs to be done to it? Would that be me or the freeholder?

Many thanks,

Leon

    Your boiler.

    You.

If it's your boiler (serves your flat only) then you.

NB if a new boiler is required, or if the existing flue arrangements no longer comply with current regulations (flues in voids must be accessible for inspection along their full length) you may need freeholder permission to install a new boiler flue - and that might not be forthcoming.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Unless you've already answered all of your other leasehold Qs, it might be worth looking at a useful thread about things to (at leasttry to) establish before you commit; my post #6 and others at
