Options
Moto G6 Play has just had a notification of the latest update.
It says download will start when connected to WiFi.
It is connected to WiFi but the download will not start.
Any ideas why it will not start ??
A way round the problem ??

Try and kick it off manually... 1. Touch ^
    2. Touch Settings
    3. Touch System
    4. Touch Advanced
    5. Touch System Updates

Then follow the instructions to download and install it.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

Does the battery have enough juice? Try it with the charger plugged in.

Yes battery has full charge & plugged into charger.
It's is actually a bit of a pain because it keeps notifying me of the update all the time.
    Tried restarting phone etc.

Be warned - there's a bug in the update that makes it impossible to turn off the ridiculous 'Hello Moto' when you switch it on. The on/off switch for the power on sound has been disabled for some reason.

There is quite a lot about this on the Motorola site but it seems Lenovo doesn't know how to fix it.

When was the last time you rebooted your phone. Might be worth doing that first then ensure you're connected via wifi. Updated mine yesterday and not had any issues, it does take a while to perform the update though.

I also had mine plugged in on charge when I updated, have you tried that. Also, just a thought but do you have enough space for the download? I'm not sure how big it is but if you're low on space then it might not download.

OK an update on the update problem in case anybody else has the same thing.
    Go into Safe Mode.
To go into Safe Mode, press the physical power key, then press and hold the pop-up " Power off" key until the Safe Mode instructions pop up. Reboot your device to get back to the 'Normal Mode'.
When in Safe Mode the download should start automatically.
    It did for me.
Looks like the problem is caused by an installed app.
Pity we have to trawl the internet to get an automatic down load !!
