Office closing, - can I be made to work from home?

I have been with my company for a long time and they have announced the closure of the plant where my office is.
I work in the IT function / Systems team and my role is a global one, but I operate mainly from the local plant.
Most people in the plant will be made redundant, but I believe my boss (in a plant 170 miles away) thinks I will carry on working from home.
Do I have any options?
Thanks

What is it that you want? A 170 mile commute sounds challenging.
There's lots of benefits to working from home, as long as you have a degree of self discipline, and you'd save yourself a 340 mile round trip each day.0 -

Depends on your wishes and negotiation skills
1) relocation to new plant
2) commute - either part or full week
3) work from home
4) redundancy
All depends on your location/age/skills/family circumstances and whether you can find anything else in local area0 -
Would I be right in assuming you'd rather be redundant than work from home?Space available for rent0

Have you ever worked from home in this job?
Global tends to need early starts(East) late working(West).0 -
Thanks
Redundancy would be favourite, but as some of the other guys said, I'll probably need to negotiate...0
