Come on OP, what kind of vehicles are they? Extremely wide but lower than six feet, fitted with wheel trims.

I suppose we can rule out any kind of Lamborghini.

    It'll be an extra-wide Yaris :D.

Just reporting back for anyone caught in a similar situation, Eurotunnel has paid the bill at the dealership for repairing the damage caused by incorrect loading. Result!

The incompetent loading staff have cost their employer a pretty penny as there were 17 of us. Our car only needed a wheel repair but some cars have diamond cut wheels which need to be replaced as they cannot be repaired. Ouch!

All 17? Lemming syndrome springs to mind.

It looks like the amount of common sense is inversely proportional to the cost and sense of importance of the vehicle driver

Eurotunnel clearly don't agree with your petty view as they have readily accepted liability and coughed up.

Fingers crossed it won’t happen to others.

you don't really need to know what cars they are, only that they are wide.

I have had a reply on another website where someone with a classic car had similar damage and Eurotunnel paid for the repair. That's all I wanted to know, and so will bow out now.

(just a titbit for those who are interested in irrelevant info., we have a Lamborghini or Maserati as our courtesy car when we take ours for service).

Oh come on. Don't be shy.

Why the coyness if everything has been settled?

So someone probably lost their job because you (and 17 others) can't drive?

And please don't forget to declare a 'No fault claim' when your car insurance comes up for renewal.

Have you ever been on Eurotunnel? By the time the first car realised there was a problem the rest of them would have already been on the train and there's no reversing so they'd have had no choice but to carry on.

As it was wheel damage then I suspect it occurred whilst manoeuvring around the chicanes within the double-decker carriages (the high vehicle carriages don't have these). The kerbs for the walkways along the side of the carriages are fairly substantial so combined with a wide car with low profile tyres I can see how damage can easily occur.

    In fact Eurotunnel themselves say:
Low ground-clearance vehicles (sports cars): If your car is exceptionally wide or has low ground-clearance we recommend that you book your vehicle as a High car (car over 6ft/1.85m) to avoid difficulty boarding our shuttles.
