Hi,

My elderly mother is looking into purchasing a funeral plan with a company that invests the money with “LINK CORPORATE TRUSTEES LIMITED”

I looked in Companies House (Company number 00239726) and noticed that LINK has been known historically by a significant number of other names.

Previous names include:

CAPITA TRUST COMPANY LIMITED 18 May 2001 - 06 Nov 2017
ROYAL & SUN ALLIANCE TRUST COMPANY LIMITED 30 Jul 1997 - 18 May 2001
SUN ALLIANCE TRUST COMPANY LIMITED 02 Apr 1987 - 30 Jul 1997
SUN ALLIANCE TRUSTEE COMPANY LIMITED 11 Feb 1987 - 02 Apr 1987

Is this a cause for concern? Or is this considered "normal"
(There is also a vast turnaround of directors/secretaries etc!)

Also how can I check that her investment is guaranteed and safe?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has any experience of Link that they could share.

Many thanks!!
Michelle

A funeral plan is NOT an investment. It is in effect an inursnce policy against the future cost of a funeral. A decent one will have guarantees that the future cost increases will be met and the money should be held in trust. Treat with caution.

If she wants to pay up-front for her funeral, compare what she can get for the money on a site like this -
    https://www.over50choices.co.uk/funeral-planning/funeral-plans

Always check that the prices are up-to-date.

Once she has a ball-park figure, it's worth asking the local funeral directors whether they also provide a pre-paid funeral.
