Late payment

Options
Hi guys,

So after working for years to try get my credit rating up as I want to buy a house (after lots of mistakes in my younger years) all going so well and I finally seemed to have a half decent score... I then had a second child, the stress of dealing with two under twos a payment I was meant to make got missed!! Ahhh. I've made it now, and done what I should have done and set up a DD. Payment was only a few days late but they have obviously put me down as a missed payment. I've contacted them and rightly so they won't change anything. But my credit score has gone down by 200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems unbelievably harsh since I haven't missed any payments etc in more than 6 years. While my score go up in a reasonable time or is it seriously going to be years again? It says on my credit file I'm in arrears but I'm not, I'm paid up.

Thanks
Chantelle

Fortunately, your score is an entirely fictional number. It doesn't matter if it's 1 or 1,000,000 as no one see it or cares about it.

One late payment isn't a serious issue in the big scheme of things, as long as the rest of your credit files are well managed.

So stop looking at the pretend scores and just focus on managing your credit.
