I have a 2kw electric fire but its lead is too short. I've been looking for a single socket extension lead. Would a 10 amp one be ok?

A 2kW fire will take about 8 to 9A, so a 10A lead is just about enough. A 13A one would give a bit more leeway.
Avoid anything too cheap and nasty, and watch out for signs of overheating at the plug and socket. Always fully unroll the extension lead; one left coiled up can overheat and melt.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Thanks. I did get a 13A today. You're right about the leeway. And it didn't cost that much more than a 10A.0
