Hi everyone
Sorry to mention the C word already, but I'm going to start making jam for Christmas soon. I've been trying to think of Christmas that don't need expensive ingredients but people will actually eat. Also I've made chutney but not jam so easy fruit is a must!
Any ideas? I thought plum but I've asked people and they wouldn't eat that.

Today I made apple jelly. The basic recipe is from here -

I added a stick of cinnamon, a few cloves and some nutmeg - can't get more Christmassy than that!
I'm going to make more next week with chilli flakes in it.0 -
there's an easy apple jam recipe here. http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/8053/apple-jam.aspx
Apple jelly is also nice with a few dried cranberries added to each jar0 -
I'm linking to a blog as I can't find the recipe elsewhere online (so I have no idea what else might be on there ...) but I can highly recommend Christine Ferber's Nougabricot Jam (scroll down, it's the second recipe)- it's an apricot jam with honey, orange, almonds and pistachios and it's lovely. If you're quick you might be able to score some reduced apricots before the end of the month0

I wouldn't say no to a nice jar of plum jam!...A touch of spice would make it 'festive'.
Cherry jam would take spices well...and a touch of something alcoholic too...that would make a Christmassy jam.
Or you could make a fruit curd instead of a jam?...maybe something other than the usual lemon....lime curd is delicious....or you could do orange with a few warm spices.0 -
I've just made raspberry and prosecco jam...its delicious. Frozen raspberries, little bottle of booze, only £1.50 in aldi, and 1kg of jam sugar, potted into small jars.
