I do feel sorry for the person that fell, but this still sounds like trying to take advantage to me.
Sorry J B for remaining off topic but...
This is a money saving site, so taking advantage of the possibility of a good will gesture seems reasonable and in keeping with the aims of the site.0 -

I don't think that's within the aim of Martin Lewis's site or Martin Lewis.
Just my opinion.

Yup, I'm with lisyloo and also my conscience says ...
"Thanks for looking after me so well at Crewe Station, thanks for calling me an ambulance, thanks for putting your first-aid experience to good use, thanks for taking your coat off to help me keep warm, thanks for helping me to the bottom of the stairs, thanks for helping me to get to the ambulance ........... now I'm gonna sue you" :eek:0 -

Nonsense, simply mentioning it in a communication requesting a refund, with no conditions attached to it (which is what Voyager originally suggested) is in no way blackmail. Clearly J B isn't going to do this, but it's ridiculous to vilify anybody who would choose to.0 -

Yes, but saying "thanks" and then "I have one more favour to ask" is not blackmail.
As an aside, it is good to know how well the staff at Crewe responded.0 -

As the OP says in their inital post that they purchased their tickets via 'takethetrain' and this is who they are therefore claiming the refund from, while Crewe station is managed by Virgin Trains, all this discussion is rather moot.0 -
Anyway ........... 2½ months later and we have most of our refund.
They deducted a tenner admin fee from the more expensive booking and a fiver from the other.
Didn't think it was worth chasing for the missing fiver after so long!
:T0 -
That's good news! At least you were able to pursue and get refunded.0
