I am a single mum, working full time with a 8 year old son. I heard that maybe i could get help with child care? is this right? I'm on £17,000 a year.
Obviously it's only after school and holidays i need help!
Any advice is greatfully received.

Working Family Tax Credit. You should already be getting the Child Tax Credit bit. You just tell them that you want them to cover childcare, they ask you for childcare details. I think they pay about 70%, but you have to be working over 16 hours0

our child care costs are £80 a week for two days a week.
ta credits based on our total income of 25k a year is £66 a week.
to give a rough ideaThere's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
On £17K, Im guessing your working over 16hrs, so you are aligible to claim 80% of your childcare costs back through WTC, and as already said, you shoud already be getting CTC.
You need to telephone tax credits with all of the details ASAP.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Not sure if the rules have changed but as far as I know the childcare has to be registered to claim tax credits.0
