For example "Epson iPrint" Android app plugs into the Epson XP wireless printers. Or Google Cloudprint. Depends on the printer manufacturer and model.

The make of the printer would be useful. There are various, printer manufacturer android apps, you need to pick the one that will work with your printer.

Or you can use the standard Google Print service on your phone but you may not be able to access advanced features of your printer.

I never said there weren't alternatives. Even the page you linked to suggests installing the manufacturer companion app if you want to use the full features of the printer.

I've updated my post to reflect that.

Provided of course that your particular printer make and model works with "baked-in apps". My printer for example doesn't work with Cloud Print. Better to use the manufacturers own app if available to be reasonably sure that it's going to work.
