i parked in my usual place and a bit later walked to the shops and saw that the police? had put cones along the road and either side of my car. there is nowhere else to park or I would move it. Any advice as what to do please? there is no sign to suggest why this has been done.

I would move it, even if you have to ask a favour of a neighbour or friend. What you don't want to discover is that there are works being carried out and your car is possibly trapped for the duration or susceptible to damage.

So you're saying there is absolutely no other places to park your car within a reasonable distance of your home? That's rubbish.

The Police have put the cones out for a reason. Your car will be causing an obstruction or will get damaged. Get it moved.

If the cones are all along the road then they will be to stop parking. I wouldn't see any problem in you driving elsewhere - just shift a cone, move the car a little and put the cone back before you drive away.

It might not have been the police though. Councils will put out cones in advanced of roadworks to stop parking ahead of time.

That's clearly not true, hence debtdebt's comment.

thanks all! No the nearest parking is all resident parking with permits I parked there once and got a £30 ticket!!or a paying car park. Anyway other people have voted with their feet so to speak and parked and moved the cones together into a smaller space! All seems ok so far. I will move it at 8 tomorrow when I go out.

Bit odd of the cone warden to put cones surrounding my car though!!
