There is a new discussion on the Budgeting & Current Accounts Board Click Here based on a story taken from the BBC website.

Apparently direct debits can be paid at any time frequency and this is specified by the originator. If you receive weekly / fortnightly / monthly payments this could be powerful knowledge to help you budget better and reduce the risk of receiving bank charges due to insufficient funds.
