Uneven subfloor.

Options
So I had to have my carpet up for a heating installation last year.

Unfortunately the floorboard panels, I believe they are plywood, were not put back evenly and had some bumps. The carpenter and carpet layer insisted that it would be fine, however I am starting to see some uneven wear and tear to the carpet after only a year.

Looks like the carpet in all 4 bedrooms and landing will have to be taken up and the floorboards sorted out.

Spoken to the same carpenter, he said some filler should sort it out. Im reluctant to use him again though, as obviously he should have suggested that initially.

If anyone has suggestions, much appreciated.

We put hardbard over floorboards to provide a more consistent base in period houses. If you have large sheets of ply then it might be. Case of screwing them down properly.

Filler won't won't help at all becUse wood moves. It will just break up with the movement and shrinkage.
