Can anyone recommend a decent family friendly restaurant in either Leamington or Warwick (or close surrounding area). My parents 50th Anniversary so 6 adults plus 3 children want somewhere nice to eat on a Saturday night?

    HI

What about the Durham Ox - shrewley, went there for my parents 40th anniversary, couldn't have been more helpful (not cheap though)

Our other thoughts were the Racehorse in Warwick - nice conservatory round the back, happy for decorations etc, or the Waterman - by the canal at Hatton.

    hope this helps

    Hi there,

I don't know Leamington or Warwick that well, but I did live in Kenilworth for a number of years. It's about a 15 minute drive from Leamington and has some great places to eat.

    Here are the ones that I would recommend;

    - Coconut Lagoon: Indian, but not your usual balti, tikka masala, vindaloo etc. They specialise in dishes from the Southern Indian region and they really are something special. The restaurant is quite small and has a really great cosy feeling. Their staff are all so so helpful and will advise you on all of the dishes, so you won't end up with something too hot! The chef here even made me a cake, complete with candles, when I went out with my family to celebrate my first graduation!!
    - Simply Simpsons: Modern European. This is a really nice restaurant that serves excellent food; the head chef at this place has a Michelin star. I'm not convinced, however, that it would be the idea place for children.
    - Colisuem: Modern European. If some of your party are not into Indian food, I would recommend this one after Coconut Lagoon and the Bangladeshi (see below).
    - Seetar Tandoori: Bangladeshi
    - Apart from these four, there are also a number of chain restaurants which make nice places for a family meal. Beefeater (really lovely setting my the Castle), Zizzi and She Bar.

If you were going to eat out in Kenilworth, my recommendations would be in this order:

    1. Coconut Lagoon
    2. Seetar
    3. Coliseum
    4. Simply Simpsons
    5. Beefeater at the Queen and Castle pub
    6. She Bar
    7. Zizzi.

I haven't lived in Kenilworth for a while, so there may well be other restaurants that have opened since I left.
http://www.kenilworthweb.co.uk/restaurants.htm <-- is a good website for restaurants in Kenilworth.

Sorry for the epic post- I get very very nostalgic about Kenilworth!! Hope this has helped.
