Car Insurance Supplier & Approved Suppliers

Options
Is it the case now that all car insurance companies have approved national suppliers for windscreen & repair works, or do any still let you choose your own & pay the excess?

The problem I've recently had is a subcontractor of an approved supplier had poor service levels. I needed the windscreen replaced within 2 weeks for an MOT but they didn't respond to it so I had to pay somewhere else out of my own pocket at the last minute to keep the vehicle on the road. For this the insurance company greatly heightens the excess, which I'm challenging as I deem the response time of their service chain unreasonable (though they have no definitions).

Whenever you are unhappy with your insurer the route to go down is a complaint in line with their complaints procedure

Then if you are not happy with the reply or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate to the FOS for their adjudication at no cost to you
