Anyone have Scottish gas?

My old Dad has had his gas & electric meter read by Scottish gas but on the last 4 occasions he has not had a gas bill until the "red "final demand...leaving him with only 7 days to pay.. He finds this very stressful, and has complained repeatedly to SG who blame the Royal Mail.
Do Scottish gas go to the "red" straight away?
Anybody have a similar experience?

british/scottish gas offer a prompt pay service, where if you pay your bill straight away, you get a discount. Maybe this is how they act so that they do no honour the discount.

British gas run a scheme called 'energy care' once registered (free) they can arrange for a duplicate bill be sent to you. That way you know what the amount is when due to pay etc etc.
