Weekend in Newcastle - How much?

Options
Hope this in the right place!!!

I'm off to Newcastle with my hubby on friday and was after a rough idea on spending money.

We are driving up so have factored in a tank of petrol and the hotel is already paid for.

I have saved £550 but really hoping we wont spend all of that, but want to go up not having to check the bank balance every 5 minutes.

I used to live up there, but that was 10 years ago so have no idea how prices have changed up there!!

TIA

    Use numbeo website:

Usually you can get a good idea.

Save you're money and go somewhere nicer - like the ends of the earth (which is pretty much on par with Newcastle)

as you don't say what you will be doing in Newcastle I don't see any way anybody could even guess at how much you need.
Visiting friends, meals with them and a walk by the river = zero.
Going to the casino for a decent session = £ 000's.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

    I currently live there.

What are you after doing? Theatre, meals, galleries, castles...?

    £550?!

    For a weekend?!

    In Newcastle?!

You could go on holiday for 7 nights abroad, flights, transfers, 4-5 star resort, all inclusive for 2 people with that kind of money.

    Madness.

I'd take £600 to be on the safe side.

Have a look at Itison, on google and join up, half price offers on food etc.
Loads of reasonably priced food on the quayside...which is fabulous by the way, walk over the blinking eye to ths Sage and the art gallery.
All museums and art galleries in Newcastle are free.
Premier inn is also down there.
Newcastle is fabulous and remember to look above eye level.
    Enjoy
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Its a weekend away for my husband's 40th. He's a massive Brighton fan and I am a massive newcastle fan and it just so happens they are playing that weekend.

So nice celebratory meal friday night.
Some sightseeing and lunch before the football and then will probably frequent a few selected bars.

Sunday will be sightseeing a spot of lunch and early dinner as we are driving home on the Monday.

To the poster who currently lives there are they any events on over the weekend? Was thinking of a trip to The Sage/Quayside etc.

Just budget daily - save the leftovers. 500/3 days = ~£167/day.
Keep at least £20 for taxis/day and you're left with £147ish/day
If you're worried about spending too much on drinks then just pre drink before you go out - a nice bottle of wine between 2 from the shops wont exactly blow your budget - then just have water with dinner?
If all else fails - head to spoons.
