Ok, so I'm anxious about house move. No mortgage or missives for either side of the sale yet, 9 days to go

I have chased the parties concerned, but like MSE Martin's comment about nobody caring about your money more than you, I get the distinct impression that quite a few people involved in the buying and selling of residential homes don't do empathy :p

There seems to be a real slowdown now vs. when we purchased. Then again, it was 2012 and things were still very much in the doldrums. I suspect that the main problem now is that every party will be stuck in at least one queue before the chain will complete. Still, stressful as hell, we could theoretically go back to square one still.

    Trying to keep myself busy.

£300 out at 12% this morning against some secured P2P loans, taking me to £4,500.35 @ a blended rate of 6.79% after tax. Nearly at my targeted rate of 7.2% (double new mortgage rate) :T

Good luck with the house, Ed! We bought at the end of 2013 and had to chase people and we had no chain (FTBs purchasing a probate sale). I think a lot of people can get complacent and assume things will just happen.

Does anyone ever read the other two mortgage-related boards? Good God, they're depressing.

I occasionally do. When I worked at a big lender, Transfer of Equity was my specialist area, so sometimes I'm able to chip in a (hopefully helpful) reply.

But I'm not able to say much about mortgage applications, as it's all changed so much in the last couple of years.

I think the boards do look depressing, because people only ever post when they are worried or have a problem, it just gives a skewed picture of the whole process.

Hang on in there Ed, it'll suddenly fall in to place, these things usually do

Just remember the only time solicitors ever bother with work is at 4pm on Fridays. ;)

A bit unfair Alex, they've been known to work around 4pm Thursdays as well*

    * Assuming Friday is a Bank Holiday :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Started packing last night, it all feels a bit unreal as we haven't finalised the legalities.

Mrs E unimpressed with my bad mood - it would appear that (bad) 10 hour day in the office, heavy rain and baby screaming herself to sleep is past the limit of my tolerance :o

Still, 5 boxes of books, CDs and DVDs packed up, plus a large box of books for Oxfam.

Woken up by singing baby at 05:30, it's not all bad :D

Good news on the packing (and the CS books!). Keep going - and try to bring Mrs E a really nice cuppa coffee :)
