DD (4?) had a complete hissy fit outside our house - refusing to walk, sitting on the pavement, taking her shoes off and throwing them, screeching and wanting to be carried. The father just watched her... for 20+ minutes :rotfl:to that dad :T.

We've all been there. Nowadays we can smugly smile at the parent on the receiving end, trying to convey empathy. As we all know how embarrassing it is but equally you have to deal with it or they win.Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!

That's because it's still quite new - I can switch off to the noise my lot can make quite nicely and inly get involved if the pitch changes to pain. I am not embarrassed at all if they have a tantrum in public - and my lack of reaction seems to help them pass more quickly!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Tonight in the gym, lady in front was carrying her teenage daughters skate bags... !!!!!!!! Equally I have seen mums towel dry teenagers at swimming and then fasten their bras... Seriously? So glad that I have always had a low tolerance for those shenanigans!! I suppose having 3 under 3 1/4 made me be quite tough.
I remember making my girls carry school bags, and then one throwing on floor, "I'm not carrying it" Ok.. but I'm not either... walk on... tantrum.. keep walking... eventually they get it but its hard!Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!

The trouble is that these teenagers that have it all done for them, have still got to survive on their own at some point. Being babied until they are eighteen is not going to help them. I know how hard it can be to suddenly have to do it all as the older you start the less it comes naturally. I was 23 when I left home - I had never been allowed to cook a meal, do any cleaning, do the ironing or anything like that. It sounds great but it is a very bad start and doesn't at all prepare you for the future.0

My girls are all able to cook and clean (have strict chores lists at weekend) but have struggled with DD1's work ethic (has recently started at college). I had to make it crystal clear that she needs a PT job (wants to buy this, do that). I was surprised as our work ethic is huge. She starts October HT in a shopping centre...Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!

£34.96 into Funding C1rcle, £40 bid at 12.5%+
Making a sage and bay brine for a whoopsied pork joint that should cover just about all of our meals for next week!
Mrs E taking DD out for the morning, so time for a few computer games and a cup of coffee0 -
Another £400 into FC, purchased lots of loan parts at a 0.5% premium in the 13-14% range. That's me now fully diversified by their standards (i.e. more than 100 loans), time to ease my foot off the gas until the end of the month0

Too right. I remember going to uni and being shocked at how few people could do the basics. My mum had spent a long time telling me how I wasn't going to be able to survive as I couldn't look after myself but it turns out I had picked up enough...the number of other students who couldn't cook even the simplest of dishes, know how to separate coloureds from whites to do a wash and how to operate a washing machine was quite alarming!
My mum's fears were in vain (although I didn't turn into a really decent cook until second year, but I could knock together enough to survive happily in first year) and I ended up showing most of a block how to use the washing machine! :rotfl:
If I ever have any children I'm going to make a point of teaching them all how to do the basics for themselves and cook to a decent standard. It's an unkindness to send them into the real world without knowing how to do that for themselves, as they are highly likely to need to do it for themselves - even the boys. Better they learn at home where making mistakes isn't going to mean they don't have dinner that night as the food they have bought it inedible after being "cooked" or that it's all just too much for them to learn at once.
How's your back, Ed? If the osteo was going to have had an effect it might have taken a few days as it will have disturbed all the soft tissue in the effected area. It's not necessarily an instant thing.
And guess what? I have my internet connection back. *Beams and hugs router and gives it lots of kisses*Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20
