Hi all,.
Looking to replace some old (20+ years) storage heaters. Can anybody recommend a good make please?

    I recommend you don't replace them, but repair them. Some of mine are 35 years old, and still going strong.

    Be aware that some of the modern heaters may now need your wiring to be reconfigured especially if the old heaters are on a separate off-peak circuit. So it may not be just an easy swap-out job. You might need an electrician to give you some advice before going out and getting shiny new ones

    A lot (if not all) of the newer heaters either need a second, 24 hour feed to power the controls, fan and auxiliary heaters or the off-peek circuit to be reconfigured to a permanent supply and the clock in the heater has to be programmed to ensure that it only charges during off-peak periods.

    Do they need replacing? Unlikely that newer means significantly more efficient.

    Avoid Fischer Future Heat: "A 2.2kW Fischer Elektrostore dynamic Heater will only use 14.05kW to heat your room for 16 hours. This is 0.87kW per hour." :doh:
