Tenement roof slates change and mastic around chimney

Hi all,

I was wondering what is a fair price to change between 50 and 60 slate tiles + re-applying mastic in a chimney in a 3 floor tenement roof in Edinburgh.

I have just one quote and I find it a wee bit excessive: £4000
I'm being unfair??

I'd really appreciate any help in this matter!:beer:

Depends where in Edinburgh, but is scaffolding required and will that scaff have to be located on the public highway for which permits will be required?

And mastic has no place on a tenement roof. Chimneypots should be bedded on mortar haunching, and any valleys in lead

Hi, thanks for your message.
I was not told anything about scaffolding, so I asume it will not be needed.
The company also said that in the base of teh chimney the old mastic has come off... Could that be the case?
