Insurance claims on building only taking ages

Hello we need some advice or opinions, we recently had a leak due to the last cold weather, we put a claim to the insurers (MoreThan) and we haven't heard anything for about 2 weeks we tried calling took over 1/2 hr then we had to give up taking ages then tried on they're web site, they're chat has disappeared it seems we have been tracking the claim but to no avail. Does anybody know how long claims take for building only, not contents as we do not own alot.

    My intuition is insurers are bogged down with claims following the cold weather. There are very few contractors out there that work for insurers. That then means supply and demand issues exist. The contractor's business model and workforce is based on normal levels of claims, and when these spike the system creaks and does not deliver in a speedy manner. All this is a simple fact of life. For example, anybody wishing to Google what happened after the 2007 floods in Gloucestershire will see the insurance system failed to deliver speedy resolution.

    This means you have to establish where you stand with your insurer, what exists in terms of a written trail of concerns and complaints, and where you are in the queue.

    You have to be proactive, professional, methodical and savvy on all this. If you sit back and are half hearted you will get nowhere.

    Then when a contractor does get engaged watch them like a hawk, and adopt a mindset that corners will be cut, and you will be a victim of this.
