Searches on Transunion

Morning All,

I have quite a number of searches on my Transunion report under 'Other Searches'. It says lenders may be able to view these.

There are no searches for credit applications.

Madison CF UK 118 118 Money - Purpose CF - they appear to search every other week. Apparently this is due to Clearscore

Some are Quotations, General Insurance and Identity Checks.

What searches can prospective lenders actually see of the above? I thought the above would have been documented as 'soft' searches?

    None of those.
    Only the hard searches.

    How do you actually differntiate between a hard search and a soft one?

    Equifax shows no credit applications. Experian says 0 searches that affect your credit score, but on Transuion they are all grouped together?

    TransUnion split them into Other and Your searches.

    “Other searches” are hard searches.

    “Your searches” are soft searches.

    All of these insurance quotes etc are showing In Other Searches, which you are saying are hard?

    I do not think TransUnion is correct in the way they record searches. I also have a plethora of hard searches in the 'Other Searches' section including insurance quotations, anti-money-laundering and identity checks. :)

    I also have a pay day loan quotation on there from 2017. I have never been interested nor looked at payday loans. I have disputed it.

    Totallymoney seperates them out showing hard and soft.

    Only one hard search showing. All the others I listed above show under soft search.

    Money Supermarket also use Transunion data for their credit reports and also split out hard and soft searches.

    However the credit report is only available on their app and not on their online site.
