Dropped kerb quote:

Labour + plant + materials to carry out construction of new vehicle access across public footpath 5 kerbs. 4.5 metres wide by 3 metres deep.

£2620 + Vat + Licence Fee

Driveway quote:

33 sqm.

Excavate and remove.

Supply and install new recessed manhole frame and cover.

Marshalls Drivesett Priora brick paving on 50mm of fine free grit on terram geotextile membrane on 150mm of fine reduced type 3 sub base on further layer of terram geotextile membrane and fill joints with fine free grit.

£3965.00 + Vat

Any thoughts on the above? Both seem a little on the steep side to me but I've got nothing to base that on, just a gut feel. We're trying to get a few people out to quote but no one seems particularly interested.

One other thing to note is that for the dropped kerb there's a tree in the vicinity so the council's docs state that this should be hand dug.

We are in Essex and wanted to widen our already dropped kerb so it was 2 cars wide, instead of 1 1/2 cars width. The 'council approved contractor' said we could only widen it by 2 kerb stones and it would cost between £1200 and £1400

We decided to just drive in at an angle :)
