18866 (again) & ntl

Options
Apologies if this has been asked before - I've tried searching - but with no success.

I'm thinking of switching to 18866 but have ntl. Can you tell me if the 0808 number is free please?

I asked ntl and they didn't seem to know - but guessed it would be about 30p per minute! Is this right?

Any other problems with 18866 / ntl to be aware of?

Many thanks

Bethan

The 0808 number is free (NTL won't charge you for ringing it.)

18866 charge 0.5p/min for calls made using the 0808 number, (as well as the 1p connection fee), but those charges will all go on your 18866 bill.

I'm with NTL and find 1899 a better deal as they do not "surcharge" for the 0808 access number - so you can make UK calls for a fixed connection fee of 3p and a 0p per minute charge. But if you mainly make short calls, 18866 wins. Or join both if you can be bothered.
