At Fault Car Insurance Excess

Options
Hi all,

Recently I had a small bump in a car park that my fault. Having rung the insurance companies, i admitted full liability. My insurance will therefore cover the costs of repairing the vehicle i hit. At the time they asked me if my vehicle would need repairs, and i said yes without knowing the full extent of the damage. Looking at the Hastings website (my insurer) state:

"Do you have to pay excess towards a third party claim?
If someone files a claim against you after an accident, your insurance provider will cover the excess. If it's a personal claim, however, then you'll need to contribute the excess agreed when you took out the policy."

Can someone confirm that this means I don't have to pay any excess unless I want my own vehicle repaired?

If this is the case i believe I can fix my car for less than the excess I would pay towards it being fixed. in which case --> Money saved!

I will ring Hastings and make sure this is the case anyway but i thought i might draw off everyone's experience in case there is something else I'm missing first!

Thanks all!
